Steel Tins
Our "T"-Series Pie Safe Tins are made
of .027 gauge un-plated steel. They will rust if touched with a wet hand or left
exposed in a damp place. Therefore, all tins should be treated to retard
rusting. They can be waxed, painted, or antiqued. They can be waxed with our J-3465A
Clear Briwax. For painting or applying a finish, lean of oily residue with
some paint thinner, let dry and apply your finish. To Antique tins, clean with
thinner then use our J-3498
Darkening Solution. Apply it with a brush or rag. Once it has dried, you can
adjust color by rubbing it with some OOOO Steel wool.
Our "TP"-Series Pie Safe Tins are made
of .027 gauge Electrolytic tin plate cold rolled steel. Guaranteed not to rust.
They can be painted, but because of the steels protective plating, they cannot
be antiqued with the darkening solution.
